Quantity or quality?

Abstract

Polish system of higher education is now overdimensioned. We have too many schools which aspire to be universities, we have too many young people who are students, we have also overloaded
programs and not efficient system of evaluation and assessment, which university is good enough and which one is in fact professional high school. In paper we discuss some sources of
observed problems and some cases of reported pathologies. Discussion of the role of Ministry of Science and Higher Education is also presented and some conclusions are suggested.
