The parametric evaluation of scientific journals is an important part of the evaluation system of scholars and scientific organizations (research institutes and university departments) in Poland. This paper presents a concise overview of the evaluation of journals done by the group headed by the author of this article, which was established by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The author explains the main principles of the present evaluation of journals, the difficulties with fulfilling the task, and expected directions of the modification of the evaluation principles.
