Abstract

Biotechnology is one of the pillars of bioeconomy. The public acceptance of the bioeconomy is critical for future development. Polish people are very similar in their opinion about biotechnology to the majority of Europeans. Slightly more than a half of Poles as well as other Euro peans expect positive effects of innovative technologies, including biotechnology. The highest support we observe for “red” biotechnology and the lowest for genetically modified food. The critical factor determining the acceptance is the knowledge of scientific data.
