Abstract


The article is connected with the issue of the manuscript written in  1849 by outstanding writer Stanislaw Morawski (1802-1853) preserved  in The Polish Library in Paris. The manuscript is entitled “Memoires about Maria Szymanowska” and comprises  details concerning the life of Adam Mickiewicz as well as unknown till now romantic  treatise about music. The preserved manuscript (others were burned by Germans  in 1944) allows us to see both works and biography as well as personality of Morawski in different light. In this article  he is taken into consideration in the context of the recent knowledge about man and culture. It  allows us to verify wrong opinions on the writer and in consequence enriches the image of Polish literature from romantic period.
