Abstract


The article presents the issue connected with the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage in Poland. In 2011 Poland ratified UNESCO Convention from 2003 for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. The National Heritage Board of Poland has been responsible for drawing up a project of safeguarding plan. Since 2011 environmental consultations on the best procedures for education and safeguarding intangible cultural heritage have continued. The representatives of cultural institutions (both institutions of science and culture) and the environment of non-governmental organizations have participated in the consultations. In the article some chosen examples of activities taken for protecting and financing the initiatives related to the subjects under protection mentioned in the Convention from 2003 are discussed.
