Abstract

Article argues that the application of the term “identification” may be the solution of theoretical and methodological crisis caused by too automatic and sometimes not enough reflective exploitation of postmodern vision of the identity. According to the author, during the postmodernism „identity” has lost its original meaning and analytical value, therefore nowadays it is necessary to replace this concept with more precise terms such as “identification”. Referring to the definition of proposed term as well as to the context of the empirical researches and contemporary theories, the author explains the sense in which the postmodern concept of „weak” identities can be opposed to the “strong” identifications.
