Abstract

Scholars of political science, a discipline in recent years included into social studies, undertake issues typically belonging to humanities with growing anxiety. Meanwhile, the question of both the multiplicity of cultures and the unanimity of the universal culture, as well as the question of the foundations of normative order, found in the cosmos of the ancient Greeks, the God of the Christians, or the History of the Marxists, remain the issues which ought to be known and analyzed also by the political scientists. The text presents, inter alia, the dispute described by Thomas Mann, which occurred between the supporters of two humanist projects predicting the liberation of the subject from the entanglement in history; these projects are also of interest for those engaged in political science.
