Abstract

The Bulgarian university level educational system is compared to its polish counterpart. The largest problems and their effects in the recent years  are sketched. A glimpse of the current socio-economic situation is also presented. While the emphasis is on the Bulgarian situation (which is less known to the Polish reader) the comparison clearly shows a lot of similar issues caused mainly by underinvestment in education and science.
