Abstract

The current ranking of humanities journals published by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education is unfair: scholars in the humanities can receive no more than 10 points for a publication in the best journals in their fields (the lists B and C) but a publication in journals indexed by the Thomson Reuters with Impact Factor (IF) can give from 15 to 50 points (the list A). In this article I discuss three possible methods of ranking philosophy journals, and then I present my own proposition based on the ERIH list and SCImago index (Scopus). The main advantage of my proposal is that citations are not the main criterion of evaluation, but are complementary to the substantial evaluation made by the European Research Council.
