The mistery of Jan Czochralski

Abstract

The 60th anniversary of Prof. Jan Czochralski’s death is celebrated in Poland as „The Year of Czochralski”. The life and achievements of Czochralski are still unknown to the wide audiance and contain several secrets especially due to his collaboration with army and Polish army intelligence. The main discovery of Czochralski is the so-called „Czochralski method” for single crystal pulling from the melt. Due to this method the electronic revolution based on the discoveries in semiconductor physics and new electronic devices was possible and gave the title of the „Father of modern electronics” to Jan Czochralski.
