Abstract

Sexual aggression seems to be rather rare phenomenon among women. In the past sexual crimes were perceived as an issue connected only with men. Contemporary literature, from the beginning of the eighties of the previous century, has been placing an increasing emphasis on the role of female sexual perpetrators. There is still disagreement regarding the frequency with which sexual aggression of women occurs, the perpetrators’ and victims’ traits, offence characteristics, pathways of the offence and the sexual motivation of female behaviors.  Therefore, the aim of this paper is to gather information (theories and findings) on female sexual aggression toward adults and children and describe common characteristics and differences within sexually aggressive behaviors.
