Abstract

This article discusses the growing significance of evolutionary thought in modern academic psychology. In recent years the field has observed a significant increase in number of publications, including peer-reviewed articles, special issues of journals and scientific books. Conceptual basis of evolutionary thinking are reviewed, and subsequently there are given examples of explanations and predictions, that probably could not occur without such an approach. Also, most controversial issues concerning evolutionary explanations of human behavior are discussed.
