Research in Poland – fewer regulations, more competitiveness

Abstract

We discuss possible improvements of basic mechanisms regulating policies and organization of Polish science. In particular, a particular emphasis is placed on ways of introducing more competitive procedures into the system, both on the institutional and personal level. The article also outlines a special and important role of the National Science Center in implementing such changes.
