Jeszcze o „nauce zaściankowej”

Abstrakt

The qualification „parochial science” proposed by Professor M.W. Grabski in „Nauka” 3/2010, is verified on a selected area of applied science: building and engineering materials. Analyzing the production of a few main world publishers and of the five leading international journals the percentages of the authors from Poland are determined. They are very low taking into account all other possible measures that may characterize Poland. On that basis, the conclusion is proposed that the term „parochial” is fully justified, at least with respect to that scientific area, very probably also to many others. A few main causes of this situation are briefly mentioned.
