Abstract


The article presents the origins and history of the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw. The role of the Polish Academy of Sciences in this process has been specifically addressed. The article presents the main features distinguishing the Institute from other country’s research institutions and its major achievements over ten years of its existence
