Abstrakt

Genesis and perspectives of spin electronics are briefly surveyed. The emphasis is put on spin vales and their applications in information technology. Physical origin of the relevant giant magnetoresistance and current-induced switching is also discussed. Various methods of spin current generation, including spin accumulation, spin Hall effect, and spin thermoelectric phenomena
are also considered.
